El Paso Dog Bite Lawyer: A 12-Year-Old is Attacked by a Pack of Dogs and Treated at an El Paso, Texas, HospitalMonday, October 1st, 2012
A 12-year-old boy from Chaparral was recently attacked by a pack of dogs that were running loose. The boy suffered approximately 50 dog bites on his body and was transported and admitted to an El Paso, Texas, hospital for treatment.
The boy had been at a friend’s house and was walking home at about 9:00 p.m. on Moon View Road when it’s said that a total of five dogs attacked him. Animal Cruelty Task Force investigators with the Sheriff’s office were told by neighbors that they rushed to give aid to the boy when he cried out for help.
Among the dogs were German shepherds and a terrier-mix. Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kelly Jameson said that all of the dogs involved in the attack are in quarantine and will remain there for 10 days. This is standard procedure guided by state law; the dogs will be observed for signs of rabies while under quarantine.
During follow-up interviews with witnesses to the dog attack, investigators learned that the terrier-mix bit the boy; it was originally thought that a German shepherd was the main attacker.
The owner of the terrier was identified and notified about the attack. Jameson said he will probably be charged on several counts: owning a dangerous dog, failure to give proof of vaccination, and failure to obtain a permit for owning more than six domestic animals.
The dog bite victim was released from the hospital five days after the attack.
