Two People in the U.S. are Killed by Pit Bulls since December 7, 2015 – Part 2Tuesday, December 15th, 2015
In separate horrific incidents, two people in the United States have died as a result of a pit bull or pit bull mix attack this month. Both fatal pit bull attacks strongly support the argument that pit bulls are too dangerous to have in society. The first of the two victims was 4-year-old Xavier Strickland of Detroit, Michigan. The other victim was 22-year-old Rebecca Hardy of Port Huron, which is also in Michigan.
It appears that Hardy climbed into the backyard with dogs that she knew were dangerous. Because of her act of entering the yard intentionally and her known awareness that the dogs were vicious, her death has been ruled a suicide. The horrific incident occurred on December 3, 2015. A witness tried to stop the attack, and the dogs’ owner finally got them under control. It was too late. The dogs critically injured her with a savage and relentless bite to the throat. The pit bull and pitbull-husky mix were both euthanized after the attack. No charges are expected because the victim entered the yard purposefully, supposedly knowing the risks. The medical examiner who ruled the death a suicide said that going into that backyard was similar to jumping in with lions or tigers at a zoo.
The words of the Oakland County Medical Examiner are harrowing, when you consider that a vicious pit bull, a breed people are allowed to own, is considered to be the equivalent of a hungry tiger or lion.
